Mild start to winter and we are still grazing

December 24, 2015

This is our first winter on the farm, we needed a mild start to the winter and that is what we got. We farm grass fed sheep so we either graze or we feed hay. It is late December and we are still out on pasture every day, no need for hay yet.

The mild start to winter allowed us to complete the barn cleanup before the sheep start to use it for the winter. The barn was used for dairy cows about 10 years back. Removing 10 year old manure is not as easy as one might think. We are ready now, we are just waiting for winter.
